(More customer reviews)I upgraded from the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G Slide to the Exhibit 4G. As I get into this review, I should explain that I'm not a phone connoisseur, nor am I extremely technically-minded. Take this review as the opinion of a modestly tech savvy consumer who's on her second SmartPhone.
I appreciate the sleek design of the Exhibit. The screen size, however, is passable but on the small side, which can make keypad input a little tricky (it's better in landscape mode.) Swype makes text entry a bit easier, but I find I'm often having to correct the predictive text.
The charger input is on the top of the phone. You might not think to consider this problematic...until you attempt to hook the phone up to a car charger while it's seated in a window mount device holder. I had to purchase a new car charger with a longer cord to accommodate this quirk, and it's still not quite ideal. (Yes, I can seat the phone in landscape mode, but I prefer not to; consider that MY quirk.) All things considered, though, this is a minor glitch.
The phone's menus are easy to navigate and well laid out. T-Mobile includes a lot of bloated extra apps, which you can't remove without rooting the phone, but that's not the phone's fault, it's the carrier.
Battery life is actually better than I expected. When I'm not using the phone frequently (as when it's on the bedside table overnight) the battery barely registers a dent in the charge level. With average daily use I've never been able to drain the battery over a 24 hour period. Yes, expect to charge the phone every night, and expect to keep it on a car charger if you're using battery-sucking apps such as the GPS, but otherwise don't worry that you'll be out of juice before day's end without a charge.
I've had my phone for a couple of weeks and haven't had any issues with it. I'm satisfied with its functionality, design and style. If you're looking for a mid-level SmartPhone at a decent price it's likely the Exhibit will meet your needs and then some.
