(More customer reviews)I was going to use this to either power my small mp3, usb battery recharger, or a USB fan turns out I could do nothing. The fact is the back pack is put together very well it is by far very good, the solar panel how ever looks like it is home made like I asked my neighbor to make it in his garage and it has less amps then rubbing my feet on the carpet. The cell can not put out enough Amps, this is very important to get things to run look at the amps in solar panels this is everything the voltage doesn't matter. If it is 110 v or 4 volt if you don't have enough amps to run a device is useless, sorry but might work with your devices it didn't work with anything I wanted it too, even my phone didn't have the adapter I wanted. To turn the USB fan need a small amount of amps, the mp3 player can't even power on which is smaller than a zune can't recharge it, basically acted like it was draining the device and shut itself off rather than recharge it.

(More customer reviews)This charger comes with the panel, a standard mini-USB cable and suction cups to mount it to a window. I have an IPhone 3G. It does not come with an IPhone adapter cable, but mine plugs into the USB_OUT port just fine, no problems. The mini_IN plug is for charging the device using a computer or laptop if there is no sun. There are indicator lights on the back. Press the center button and 25-50-75-100% illuminates to give you an estimate of charge remaining on the panels internal battery. Nice little LED light. charged quickly in sunlight and just as quickly plugged into desktop. Great to have for power outages or when the elusive plug in an airport just doesn't materialize. This is a great little product worth the price shipped quickly and arrived on time. Very pleased and should probably be a spokesperson for the thing they way I've been showing it off everyone asks when they see it. I charged an almost dead IPhone and it still had 50% charge left. PLUS you can use the phone while the panel is charging it in the sun with the phone connected "real time". This is very very close in size to the iphone itself. Not big at all.

(More customer reviews)I bought a couple of these battery packs thinking they were identical to other 5000 mah battery packs but they are not. I bought two of these last spring and I liked their ability to charge my phone at the same time the battery pack was being charged. If you only have one USB port it is important to be able to charge both this battery pack AND your iPhone at the same time. As I said earlier, I had already bought ywo of these units before and they COULD charge both at the same time. But the battery packs sold by this Amazon seller DO NOT work like the battery packs I bought 7 months ago.
It is more convenient to charge both the battery pack and your iPhone at the same time. But when you are charging this battery pack it CUTS OFF all power to anything connected to it. I don't know why this item looks identical to other battery packs when it obviously is designed differently, and not as good. Perhaps this unit is from a batch of defective or poorly engineered units. I dint know. When I presented this problem to the merchant I did receive prompt responses but they could not explain the two different designs, or the flawed design of the ones they are selling.
Another problem with this battery pack happened when the rubber stopper to protect the USB port just fell off after opening it twice.
If you are wanting a 5000 mah battery pack make sure it's one of the good ones, and not like this unit that doesn't provide power to your iPhone while you are charging the battery pack. I requested replacements for the 2 battery packs but I haven't heard anything from the merchants since I asked for battery packs that worked like the battery packs I bought 7 months earlier.
Note: There are other companies offering battery packs that are almost 20% more powerful than these units so I'd check them out before buying these battery packs. There is one battery pack that even has two charging ports instead of just one so if you like versatility then it will be to your benefit to search for a better product.

(More customer reviews)Before I decided to spend the money on this charger I had Scosche SolBAT II Solar Powered Backup Battery and Charger. The first one I had worked as long as you didn't use the cable they provided, but I left it on a plane and bought another one. The second one fried and you could smell the electrical smoke from a component blowing up internally and I sent it back. The third one wouldn't charge my Droid 2 at all so I returned it and bought this one.
I love that it has a diagram that tells you how quickly it will charge as well as the percentages. It is a bonus it has a light...but a feature I wasn't particularly "looking" for. I also like that it has a switch so you get to choose whether it dissipates energy or not. I have had no issues charging my Droid 2 with this charger and would recommend it to friends. I will update if there are any issues that come up later.
Arrived when stated and with appropriate accessories. I haven't tried the suction cups yet.
Note: LED light and charger will not work at the same time. Not an issue for me...but it should be noted.
